Setting default JQL expression

You can write and set a default JQL expression which will be displayed and used by default when you enter the Quick entry form.

Default JQL expression can be set on a user or a global level. Each user can set it’s own JQL expression which will override global JQL expression.

To set a default JQL expression, go to the Jira Issue Navigator (Choose Issues > Search for Issues)

Setting user level default JQL expression

Write your own JQL expression, press Search to show filtered issues and then press Set my worklog default button in the upper right corner.

Default JQL expression will be set for the currently logged in user.

Setting default JQL expression on a global level

Only a JIRA administrator can set default JQL expression on a global level.

Jira administrators can set a system-wide default JQL expression that will be used if user didn’t set it’s own user level expression. In order to apply global level JQL expression, press the Set global worklog default button in the upper right corner. This button is only visible to Jira administrators.

If global level JQL expression is not set, Quick entry form will display empty JQL expression by default.
