Issue level worklogging

Worklog express way of issue level worklogging is quite similar to Jira native way of creating worklog entries. To create an issue level worklog, first you have to access a specific Jira issue.

Creating worklog express entry

Worklog create screen can be opened from issue view top menu bar (More → Log work)

or Time Tracking panel (pressing + icon).

Pressing the 'w' key on your keyboard will also open a worklog create screen.

Worklog create screen is a native Jira screen for creating a worklog entry with 2 additional features:

  1. Worklog type - you can classify your worklog by choosing a proper Worklog type from Worklog type select list. You can create your own worklog types and assign them to Jira projects. More details about creating new worklog types and assigning them to Jira projects can be found on the Worklog types page.

  2. Is billable flag - if you plan to use your worklogs as an invoicing data source, each worklog entry can be marked as billable or non-billable by checking or unchecking Is billable checkbox. This way you can differ billable and non-billable hours logged on your issue.

Each worklog entry, created before installing the Worklog express plugin, will be classified as Undefined and non-billable!

Worklog entries preview

List of worklog entries logged on a specific issue can be found under issue Activity panel -> Work Log tab. Each worklog entry is displayed with a selected Worklog type. If worklog entry is marked as billable, green billable badge is displayed.

Sum of worklogged hours, grouped by worklog types, can be found below Jira Time Tracking section. Each Worklog type is marked by a specific color defined when creating custom worklog types. Find more about defining worklog types and their colors on a Worklog types page.

Modifying and deleting worklogs

Worklog entries can be modified or deleted in a Jira native way by pressing edit or delete icon in Work Log tab.
